Emmanuel Orphans Development
Association-Orphans Programs Our
mission is to care for orphaned
and disadvantaged children
within our community. We provide
comprehensive aid and care to
poor and needy children. We have
43 children living inn our
village. We provide 43 children;
with love, food, shelter, health
care, and educational
opportunities.
EODA’s is a certified non-profit
orphan’s development project,
working in the Woliso District
in rural Ethiopia; we gained our
legal status in December, 2005.
Woliso is situated 119
kilometers southwest of the
capital city of Addis Ababa. It
lies in a magnificent high land
terrain and is home to 233, 000
people, but like many other
parts of the country, it is
raked by poverty. The World
Heath Organization “WHO”,
estimated in June of 2005, there
are 4.7 million children
orphaned in Ethiopia and UNECF
expects the number will double
by 2014. This epidemic is being
fuelled by poverty, drought, the
lack of education, health care
and the wide spread distribution
of HIV/AIDS. Woliso has not
escaped the scourge. It is
difficult to estimate the number
of children that are orphaned in
Woliso, but many NGO’s put the
number at 500 children that are
on the streets. Our program is
changing the lives of children
that are underprivileged, and
orphaned in Woliso. We are
addressing the needs of both
orphaned and disadvantaged
children within the community.
According to Save the Children
Woliso AI (2004), “47% of the
school age children do not have
the opportunity to receive an
educated due to poverty.” In
June of 2005 we constructed a
building to provides 43
children; with love, food,
shelter, health care, and
educational opportunities.
Maintain our program at its
current levels.
Expand our program to include an
additional 40 children in our
orphan village.
Purchase additional educational
materials; books, games, two
computers with educational
software program.
Exhibit transparency and
integrity in all of our
operations.
Follow the Ethiopia NGO Code of
Conduct.
Gain admittance into the CRDA,
“Christian Relief and
Development Association.
Form partnerships with other
organization to secure
additional funding.
We believe thought love,
education and health care we can
improve the lives of both the
children we serve and the
community at large. We are the
only orphanage working in Woliso
at this time. There are no other
orphanages within 70 miles.
There are so many children
waiting for a safe place to
live, food, shelter, access to
heath care and an education; we
want to provide them with the
opportunity to change their
lives. We can meet that
challenge of expanding our
program with you generous
support.
